151 Miles to Kathadin!

Hello Alley and All,

Well, I finally crossed the Kennebec
River in Maine and am staying at a hostel near Caratunk with Aussie and Wing-Heart.  We now have only 151 miles remaining and plan to summit Katahdin Peak some time in the next 12-14 days (weather permitting).  We are hoping to beat that schedule, but one never knows.  We plan to visit Ramblin (Dave) Rose, my early hiking partner in Georgia and North Carolina as we pass by Monson (before the 100 mile wilderness).  Ramblin Rose has asked us out to his horse farm (Riding Academy) for the night so we will probably take an extra day at his ranch.  All is well and we are feeling great.  Hope to see all of you soon.  We surpassed the 2000 mile mark the day before yesterday and I have some fabulous picture I would like to show you upon my return.

Thanks for your support - you have all been the greatest support for this Walk for Alley.

I miss all of you and will see you soon.

Regards,

Castanets (Jim Schiwal)
